what to bring to camp

Hello Mountain Bikers and Parents,

I hope you are as excited as we are for the Mountain Biking Camp taking place at All Saints High School-Kanata! Please find below all of the information for the camp!

All Saints address: 5115 Kanata Ave. We offer free pre-camp care from 8:00-9:00am and post-camp care from 4:00-5:00pm.

All campers will bring their bikes on Monday and pick up the bikes at the end of the day on Friday. We will store them in a secure area. Children are responsible to bring in their bikes each day.

In terms of what to bring to MBK to be prepared, please find the list below:

– Nut Free Lunch and Snacks (there will be a morning and afternoon snack everyday)

➢ We will ask all campers to bring home their wrappers, ziploc bags

etc. for recycling

– Biking Equipment

➢ Please bring bikes on Monday (Day 1) unless you are renting ➢ All bikes must have gears

➢ Spare inner tube ($10 cost for extra tubes)

➢ Gloves and helmet

➢ Water Bottle or Hydration backpack

➢ Elbow and knee pads are recommended

– Proper Clothing/Items

➢ No loose fitting clothing or baggy pants

➢ Properly fitting biking shoes (close toed shoes) ➢ Sunscreen

➢ Hat

➢ Bug Spray

➢ Bathing suit and towel

➢ Water Bottles!!

– Rain Gear

➢ Rain jackets, rain boots, change of clothes/socks (extra clothes can be left at camp for the week)

**Please ensure all bikes are properly functioning before camp starts:**

– Good shifting and properly operating front and back brakes

– Tires pumped up

– Bikes must have mountain bike knobby tires (no road or hybrid tires)

– No kickstands, locks, baskets or racks

**Helmets**

– All helmets must fit properly and be CSA/CE approved

– Less than 5 years old

– Show no signs of damage

Campers should not bring cell phones, electronic toys or similar items to camp. National Kids Camps, Mountain Bike Kids and the Ottawa Catholic School Board will not be responsible for loss or damage of property belonging to campers.

All children are expected to demonstrate basic respect for the dignity and rights of other campers and staff. National Kids Camps, Camp FOrtune and the Ottawa Catholic School Board reserve the right to suspend or terminate enrolment of any child who displays any behavior that violates the following guidelines: 1) Zero tolerance of physical and verbal assault, harassment, discrimination and psychological abuse. 2) Respect for the property of others.
